Rare, great condition double tower display case with slumped glass front. Crimson velvet lining.
Here is a beautiful antique curved glass and oak display case from the late 19th early 20th century. This handsome store fixture is especially nice because its flanked on each end with a taller shelf area that is topped with a gable roof, sometimes called cathedral towers. It also has the wonderful German silver (nickel) corner fittings and details. This was considered and extra feature in which the customer paid for. The glass appears to be original as it has that wavy and bubble look, that you want to see on a true antique showcase.
The display case was made by the Claes and Lehnbeuter Company in St Louis, Missouri. Highly regarded in its time, they were well known for their show cases, store and bank fixtures, as well as bar and saloon fixtures. The makers marks can be found on the inside of each gable as well as front nickel molding detail, in which they are engraved.
These were originally found in the local mercantile stores, pharmacies and candy shops around the turn of the century. This type of piece was found in only the best shops, due to its high cost. Today they are perfect store fixtures for boutiques, salon and jewelry shops.
